The By-law Enforcement Department is responsible for the enforcement of all Municipal By-laws, including Property Standards and Parking Enforcement.

The Department's mandate is to ensure compliance with Municipal By-laws as well as certain Provincial Statutes. These may include noise or improper fencing just to name a few.

Other than for parking enforcement, the Township of Uxbridge By-law Department mainly operates on a complaint basis. When a complaint is received, it is investigated and appropriate action is taken. However, should a health and safety issue arise in the Township, the By-law Department may pursue this issue without a complaint. Furthermore, the Traffic and Sign By-laws are proactively enforced on a daily basis.

Council recently implemented a By-law Complaint Policy (click here) that states that all complaints must be in writing. The complaint must include the complainants name, address and telephone number. The submission can be on a complaint form (click here) or by way of a letter. Please be assured that all complaints' names and information are protected under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

If you receive a parking ticket and wish to contest it, you can arrange an appointment with the Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement to discuss the matter by contacting 905-852-9181 ext. 223. If the issue cannot be resolved you have the option of pursuing the ticket through court by signing the back side of the ticket and bringing it to the Township office.  Once that has been completed, a Notice of Trial from the Provincial Offences Court will be sent to you with your trial information outlined.
